Writing Your Own Personal Development Plan is a post from: Complete Self Improvement

When a person decides to carry out a project, he or she takes on a very big responsibility. It does not matter if this is a personal, school or work project, people are going to be looking on to you, for the results, and you have to be able to deliver according to their expectations. When you carry out a task, it is normal for people to desire to do things right. To be able to ensure this, you will need to be able to write out a definite plan.

How to Write a Plan

When you write out a personal development plan, it is more than just sitting down to write your agenda for the day or making a simple to-do list. You have to understand that what you decide to do has the potential to change your life. When you are writing your plan, keep the following things in mind:

Know what you want to achieve. What is your desired end result? Ask yourself what it is that will make you happy and truly satisfied. You need to be able to identify your goals, in the first place, because it will determine the direction of the course that you have to take.

Write things down. Writing things down is not an excessive effort, like most people would say. You do not write things down because you want to be redundant. You are doing this for a simple reason: people have the tendency to forget things they say, and have to do. By writing things down you are setting things on “stone” and you can refer to your written plan, if you lose your way and go off track.

Find a mentor. A mentor is someone whom you admire and look up to, for the quality of life that he or she has kept, the kind of decisions he or she has made and the accomplishments he or she has achieved. A mentor is someone who has been where you are, now, with experiences powerful enough to inspire you and touch your lives.

Assign a time for your goals. You might think that you have a lot of time to waste but this is the first mistake that you will make. Time is of the essence and if you want to be more productive with your time, you have to try to assign certain time frame for everything you do, so that you do not waste precious minutes.

Always maintain a positive attitude. The road towards your destination will not be straight and smooth. You will encounter all kinds of things along the way, and you will have to learn to be strong enough to shrug all the negative energy out of your way. Try to picture yourself as a winner. Do not focus on failing because it will only bring you down. Instead, try to think that you have already won. Assume victory even if it is not yours yet, not because you are trying to be blind about what is real, but just because you want to show everyone that you refuse to be on the losing end of things.
